The IEEE Italy Section together with its Chapters and WIE Affinity Group, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 Awards on New Challenges for Energy and Industry.
Despite the Covid-19 emergency, which forced the university to lock down the laboratories, 37 candidates participated to the call, with 17 Master thesis (of which 3 by women) and 20 PhD thesis (of which 7 by women). In total, the works belong to 13 universities, covering a wide span of topics: microgrid and smart grid, electric vehicles, innovative materials, and cyber security, among others.
The winners of the IEEE Italy Section 2020 Master Thesis Award are:
- Riccardo Malabarba, Politecnico di Milano: “Analysis, development and field implementation of an optimized predictive control system for complex trigeneration plants”
- Sara Rotondo, Università La Sapienza – Roma: “Design of a smart microgrid for buildings of the public administration” – Woman in Engineering Award
The winners of the IEEE Italy Section 2020 PhD Thesis Award are:
- Guido Coletta, Università del Sannio: “Affine Arithmetic-based Methodologies to Enhance Grid Flexibility”
- Quing Liu, Università di Padova: “Control of Grid-Tied Inverters for Nano-Grids” – Woman in Engineering Award
